Make a detour from the criss-cross trails on the mountain, and the ruthless emptiness soon becomes apparent. In the immediate area, there is a high chance of encountering moose or beaver. Or maybe an abandoned bear den deep in the forest. The tracks are often left in the snow at the edge of the forest or along the flat slopes of the mountain. Summer’s splashing waterfalls become majestic icefalls in winter, and the snow weasel puts on its white winter costume. The fact that the distances are never far to a hut with a warming stove does not make the nature experiences any less exciting or exotic.
